The Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council (NSERC) endorsed a proposal for a national synchrotron light source to be located at the Saskatchewan Accelerator Laboratory of the University of Saskatchewan. Since 1993, NSERC has provided support to the Canadian Institute for Synchrotron Radiation (CISR) to prepare a proposal for a synchrotron that would fit the needs of the majority of current and potential Canadian synchrotron users. The Canadian Light Source is a research tool that would serve a very wide range of disciplines, for both academic and industrial research. Following a thorough review of the material presented, the NSERC endorsed the proposal from the University of Saskatchewan to meet Canada's need for a source of synchrotron light by constructing and operating the national facility called the Canadian Light Source (CLS) in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. 1, record 1, English, - Canadian%20Light%20Source
