Although real motion video is the holy grail of multimedia, it still is impractical using today's technology. Intel sells DVI products under the ActionMedia 750 label in the form of video capture and delivery boards, a full Application Development Platform, development software and support services that include compression services and training. La technologie DVI est commercialisée par Intel sous la forme de deux cartes d'acquisition et de restitution vidéo, baptisées «Action Media II». Elles sont composées d'une carte mère, l'«Action Media II Delivery Board», bâtie autour du jeu de composants d'Intel i750, et d'une carte fille, l'«Action Media II Capture Module», chargée de numériser les signaux analogiques audio et vidéo et de les transférer à la carte mère. Sur ces cartes sont implantés des algorithmes de traitement d'images et de compression/décompression permettant le traitement en temps réel d'images animées. Elles sont reprogrammables, ce qui autorise leur évolution et l'implantation de nouveaux algorithmes en fonction des besoins et des progrès réalisés dans le domaine de la compression/décompression.
