The construction elevator, like the passenger elevator, consists of a car or platform that operates within a structural framework and is raised and lowered by cables. Because the elevator can move materials only in a vertical linear direction and because the materials so moved must subsequently be moved horizontally by other means, the elevator is limited to moving relatively light materials on jobs of small areas. 1, record 1, English, - construction%20elevator
