Fused-salt electrolysis. Aluminum, barium, beryllium, cerium and misch metal, fluorine, lithium, magnesium, sodium, molybdenum, thorium, titanium, uranium, and zirconium are obtained by electrolysis of fused salts, because water interferes with the desired reaction. Gamma rays are electromagnetic radiation at the short-wavelength, or high-frequency, end of the electromagnetic (EM) spectrum, which ranges from gamma rays (short) to radio (long). The study and analysis of gamma-ray spectra for scientific and technical use is called gamma spectroscopy, and gamma-ray spectrometers are the instruments which observe and collect such data. Because the energy of each photon of EM radiation is proportional to its frequency, gamma rays have sufficient energy that they are typically observed by counting individual photons. 2, record 11, English, - gamma%2Dray%20spectrometer

Thorium(chemical symbol Th) is a naturally-occurring radioactive metal found at very low levels in soil, rocks, and water. It has several different isotopes, both natural and man-made, all of which are radioactive. The most common form of thorium is thorium-232, found naturally.... Thorium-232 has a half-life of 14 billion(14 x 109) years, and decays by alpha emission, with accompanying gamma radiation. Thorium-232 is the top of a long decay series that contains key radionuclides such as radium-228, its direct decay product, and radon-220.... Naturally occurring radionuclides fall into three categories : primordial radionuclides, secondary radionuclides and cosmogenic radionuclides. Primordial radionuclides originate mainly from the interiors of stars and, like uranium and thorium, are still present because their half-lives are so long that they have not yet completely decayed. Secondary radionuclides are radiogenic isotopes derived from the decay of primordial radionuclides. They have shorter half-lives than primordial radionuclides. Cosmogenic isotopes, such as carbon-14, are present because they are continually being formed in the atmosphere due to cosmic rays. 2, record 31, English, - primordial%20radionuclide
