... reindeer stampeding in a circle are creating what is known as a reindeer cyclone. This behaviour makes it extremely difficult for predators to target an individual. The fawns are kept safe in the middle.

On a observé dans les pays scandinaves, ainsi qu'en Russie, des hardes de caribous formant une immense spirale, tel un cyclone. Il s'agit d'une stratégie défensive et de protection face à un prédateur. Les mâles adultes restent à l'extérieur du cercle, alors que les biches et les jeunes restent au centre.
