The RADARSAT Antarctic Mapping Mission (AMM) has important significance for the scientific community. Almost 70% of the Earth’s fresh water is contained in the Antarctic region, and changes in this enormous reservoir directly influence world sea levels and climate. The new digital radar map will provide an unprecedented detailed portrayal of the surface form and features of the ice sheet. This RADARSAT based map will help scientists to better understand the dynamic behaviour of the ice sheet and provide them with a greater insight into the effects of human activity on the Southern Continent. 2, record 5, English, - Antarctic%20Mapping%20Mission

2, record 5, French, - Mission%20de%20cartographie%20de%20l%27Antarctique

The inclination of a satellite, together with its orbital altitude and the period of its orbit, creates a track defined by an imaginary line connecting the satellite and the Earth's center. The intersection on the line with the Earth's surface is the subsatellite point. As the Earth turns on its axis and the satellite orbits overhead, a line is created by the satellite's apparent path over the ground(the series of subsatellite points connected). A geostationary satellite has an inclination of essentially zero, and, because its orbital period exactly matches the Earth's rotation, its ground track is reduced to an apparent stationary point on the equator. 5, record 7, English, - ground%20track

"The libration in latitude" results from the inclination of about 6 1/2 ° between the moon's equator and the plane of its orbit. At intervals of 2 weeks the lunar poles are tipped alternately toward and away from us; at times we can see 6 1/2 ° beyond the north pole, at other times the same distance beyond the south pole. 1, record 13, English, - libration%20in%20latitude
