Chemical factors: Body fluids, such as gastric juice and tears, contain certain enzymes that exert an antiseptic action against disease-causing agents. Pepsin in gastric fluid acts against bacteria that invade the stomach, and lysozyme in tears protects against certain pathogens in the eyes.

Les facteurs chimiques :[...] ces sécrétions contiennent des produits antibactériens : le lysozyme qui altère les membranes mucopeptidiques des parois bactériennes, les glycolipides salivaires qui empêchent par compétition l'adhérence des bactéries aux cellules épithéliales. La salive contient de plus des enzymes protéolytiques et peroxydasiques bactéricides. L'acidité gastrique détruit un grand nombre de germes. Toute hypochlorhydrie gastrique augmente le risque d’infection intestinale parasitaire, bactérienne et virale. Les sels biliaires après déconjugaison gastrique détruit un grand nombre de germes.
