Every employer shall establish written instructions that provide for the prompt rendering of first aid to an employee for an injury, an occupational disease or an illness. [Canada Labour Code. Canada Occupational Safety and Health Regulations].

[In the Controlled Products Regulations of the Hazardous Products Act] "injury" includes death, malformation, permanent metabolic or physiological disfunction, growth retardation or psychological or behavioural alteration that occurs during pregnancy, at birth or in the postnatal period.
