This version of the province's Arms was adopted in 1966, at which time the crest of a royal crown was added above the shield and the scroll inscribed with the motto "SPEM REDUXIT" was incorporated below the shield. The motto, meaning "Hope was restored," is taken from the original Great Seal of the province which was used until Confederation. Cette version des armoiries de la province a été adoptée en 1966, quand ont été ajoutés la couronne royale et, sous l'écu, le listel, portant la devise «SPEM REDUXIT» qui signifie «L'espoir renaît» et provient du premier Grand Sceau de la province, utilisé jusqu'à la Confédération.
