CONT

The linesmen call the infractions of icing, offside, and offside passes. They chase the puck after stoppage of play and drop the puck for face-offs in the neutral zone. They cannot call penalties but can report these infractions to the referee. The referee may call upon a linesman to give his version of an incident that may take place during a game. And it is their unenviable job to break up fights while the referee assesses the penalties.
