The Grain Futures Act, passed in 1939, gave the Canadian Grain Commission authority to appoint a supervisor of trading (which they did in 1975), register exchange members, require the Exchange and its members to supply information and statistics, and to control trading in grain futures including the limiting of trading by any one person.
