Suite à une analyse approfondie des pertes de liaison entre gènes voisins et de leur orientation, nous avons conclu que le mécanisme principal d'évolution des chromosomes eucaryotes est la duplication de segments chromosomiques, aboutissant à un état mérodiploïde qui se résoud par la perte des gènes ainsi dupliqués ou leur divergence de séquence.
