01 June 2005, Philippine Ambassador to Canada Francisco L. Benedicto announced the proclamation of Philippine Heritage Week from 5 to 12 June 2005 by Mayor Bob Chiarelli of the City of Ottawa. In his proclamation, Mayor Chiarelli "urged all citizens to join with members of the community in the celebration of their heritage."
