Located in Central Alberta and nestled in the traditionally Icelandic hamlet of Markerville, the Stephan G. Stephansson Icelandic Society owns and operates 4 historic sites (known as Historic Markerville).

The Stephan G. Stephansson Icelandic Society was formed in 1974 to preserve the Icelandic culture and heritage of the Markerville, Alberta area. The Society is affiliated with the Icelandic National League of Canada and sponsors cultural activities in the Markerville area.
