OBS

Plate-forme rocheuse côtière à surface plus ou moins horizontale. Les strandflats sont bien développés dans des roches cristallines et dans les régions qui ont été glaciées au Quaternaire, entre autres en Norvège et au Groenland. Leur origine donne encore lieu à des controverses entre les tenants de l'érosion marine (plates-formes d'abrasion), de l'érosion glaciaire (effet des plates-formes de glace), de l'érosion périglaciaire (glacis de gélivation), de l'érosion continentale (glacis d'érosion de type fluviatile) et de la tectonique (plates-formes affaissées).
