Sanitary and storm sewer systems are an integral part of an urban area. Waste treatment facilities are carefully designed for industrial, institutional, commercial, and population wastes. To ensure proper flow of waste and storm systems, pre-benched manhole bases allow smooth transition and flows at junctions, change of pipe sizes and lateral connections. The pre-benched manhole base consists of a section of monolithically poured manhole barrel with channeled concrete between the inverts of inlet/outlet pipes with a minimum slope of 25mm or 1". The channeled concrete is smooth finished and in most cases a gasketed opening is provided for the insertion of inlet/outlet pipes. The manhole base has a joint on the top to allow for riser sections to be placed to reach the installation invert. The pre-cast, pre-benched manhole base allows for a high quality and quick alternative to cast in place benching. Using pre-cast, pre-benched manhole bases minimize construction time in the field and ensures a quality, long term solution in building storm and sanitary sewer infrastructure. Most pre-benched manhole bases are custom built for the contractor where the angles between the inlet/outlet mains require specific layout. In some cases straight through, 45 or 90 degree configurations are available for standard pipe sizes of 100-200 mm.

The John F. Kennedy Space Center(KSC) is the NASA space vehicle launch facility and Launch Control Center(spaceport) on Merritt Island, Brevard County, Florida, United States. The site is near Cape Canaveral, midway between Miami and Jacksonville, Florida. It is 34 miles(55 km) long and around 6 miles(10 km) wide, covering 219 square miles(567 km²). A total of 13, 500 people work at the site as of early 2008. There is a visitor center and public tours; KSC is a major tourist destination for visitors to Florida. Because much of KSC is a restricted area and only nine percent of the land is developed, the site also serves as an important wildlife sanctuary; Mosquito Lagoon, Indian River, Merritt Island National Wildlife Refuge dans Canaveral National Seahore are also features of this area. Operations are currently controlled from Lauch Complex 39, the location of the Vehicle Assembly Building. The two launch pads are 3 miles(5 km) to the east of the assembly building. The KSC Industrial Area, where many of the Center's support facilities and the administrative Headquarters Building are located, are found 5 miles(8 km) south. Kennedy Space Center's only lauch operations are at Launch Complex 39. All other launch operations take place at the adjacent Cape Canaveral Air Force Station(CCAFS), which is operated by the US Air Force.

The Mississippi Air National Guard(ANG) was able to enclose an entire KC-135 aircraft in the same floor area as a traditional "tailout" nose dock hangar by shaping the hangar to fit the shape of the aircraft, while reducing building costs and saving energy.... Aircraft hangars have always been "box shaped" structures to house aircraft. Doors have traditionally been of the metal sliding, metal canopy or metal bi-fold lifting type. When newer longer aircraft were made to fit into an existing aircraft hangar, the usual design treatment was to construct an aperture in the hangar door and let the aircraft tail stick outside the hangar, exposing the tail to the outside elements(a nose dock).
