The System Interface Module(SIM) functions as a system state controller handling CPU event timing with internal and external modules as well as exception control timing. The Model 6450 series memory systems are designed to interface with a MIL-STD-1553 dual multiplex data bus, by means of a remote terminal employing a high-speed sequencer. A tape controller section receives both commands and data from the terminal and actuates the tape drive mechanism according to the direction of data flow(input or output), besides monitoring overall system performance.
