In most acute toxicity tests, each test animal is administered a single(relatively high) dose of the test substance, observed for 1 or 2 weeks for signs of treatment-related effects, then necropsied. Some acute toxicity tests(such as the "classical" LD50 [lethal dose 50] test) are designed to determine the mean lethal dose of the test substance. 4, record 1, English, - acute%20toxicity%20assay

Paradoxically, because of its toxicity and its high specificity for beta cells, streptozotocin has been used with some success to treat a rare tumor of human beta cells known as insulinoma. In general, however, drugs and chemicals that kill beta cells were employed merely as tools for investigating the pathogenesis of diabetes in experimental animals. Then in 1975 a rodent poison known as Vacor, which has a molecular structure resembling that of streptozotocin, was introduced into the U. S. 1, record 6, English, - Vacor%26trade%3B

Reproductive effects are problems in the reproductive process which may be caused by a substance. Possible reproductive effects include reduced fertility in the male or female, menstrual changes, miscarriage, embryotoxicity, fetotoxicity, teratogenicity, or harmful effects to the nursing infant from chemicals in breast milk. Most chemicals can cause reproductive effects if there is an extremely high exposure. In these cases, the exposed person would experience other noticeable signs and symptoms caused by the exposure. These signs and symptoms act as a warning of toxicity. Chemicals which cause reproductive effects in the absence of other significant harmful effects are regarded as true reproductive hazards. Very few workplace chemicals are known to be true reproductive hazards. 1, record 11, English, - reproductive%20effect

Fluoroalkenes. Even with double-bonded fluorocarbons, we still can have fairly high lethal concentrations and fairly low toxicity. Comparative studies are reported on the reliability of the results in the determination of blood glucose by glucosooxidase-peroxidase and o-tuluidine methods. Both methods have a good correlation, r=0, 9575 with n=61. The results indicate that the GOD/POD method and o-toluidine method have a good reproducibility in time and series and high accuracy. Due to the poorer toxicity of GOD/POD-method its broader implementation in routine practice is recommended. 2, record 18, English, - GOD%2FPOD%20method
