Record 1 2007-01-09

Cueing is the process designed to prompt or notify the radar to begin radiating to acquire hostile fire. Determining when and how to best cue the radar is one of the most difficult planning decisions... Targeting technicians, the S2 [staff officer] and HBCT ECOORD [heavy brigade combat team effects coordinator] must establish cueing guidance based on the HBCT commanders guidance.

English

Subject field(s)
  • Aeroindustry
CONT

Primary radar is(...) the original form of radio-detection, in which a beam of microwave energy illuminates a passive or "non-cooperating" target and the reflected pulse or echo is processed to display its bearing and distance from the transmitter(three-dimensional or height-finder radars will also display its altitude, although these are, so far, restricted to military surveillance applications, essentially for reasons of cost, plus the fact that there are alternative means of determining the altitude of aircraft, other than hostile intruders).

French

Domaine(s)
  • Constructions aéronautiques
CONT
