In the case of three-axis stabilization, also known as body stabilization, the stabilization is achieved by controlling the movement of the satellite along the three axes, i. e. yaw, pitch and roll, with respect to a reference... The system uses reaction wheels or momentum wheels to correct orbit perturbations. 2, record 1, English, - three%2Daxis%20stabilization

Now permanently attached to the Zarya control module in space [, ] Unity has six berthing ports, one on each side, one which is already attached to Zarya. [The] Future U. S. station modules and [the] station components will attach to the remaining five ports... Unity is the first of three such connecting modules that will be built for the station. Sometimes referred to as Node 1, the Unity module measures 15 feet in diameter and 18 feet long. Including mating adapters attached at each end as is currently the case in orbit, the overall component measures about 34 feet long... In addition to connecting to Zarya module, Unity eventually will provide attachment points for the U. S. laboratory module [Destiny] ;Node 3 ;an early exterior framework, or truss for the station, called the Z-1 truss ;an airlock ;and a multi-windowed cupola. 10, record 3, English, - Unity%20connecting%20module

12, record 3, French, - module%20de%20jonction%20Unity

The satellite in geostationary orbit(GEO) is, however, a special case, since it is allocated an orbital position measured in degrees of longitude, which must be maintained to limit the possibility of interference with other services using GEO, to allow the use of fixed ground antennas and to avoid collisions. This is referred to as “station keeping” : the two main components of orbital control are east-west station keeping and north-south station keeping. 3, record 5, English, - station%2Dkeeping%20satellite

When an ionizing particle enters the device, it collides with gas atoms and strikes electrons from their orbit around the nucleus of the gas atoms. In addition, an ionizing particle striking the outside of the tube can also knock electrons off the metal casing. In either case, these free electrons then are attracted to the positively charged central wire, gaining energy by the attraction. As they approach the wire they knock electrons off other atoms, creating an avalanche or cascade effect which results in a pulse of current large enough to be detected. A "quenching gas" is usually added to the filler gas so that these avalanches will dissipate over time and not continue indefinitely, which would cause inaccuracy or electronic failure. 1, record 6, English, - quenching%20gas
