The more sophisticated zappers are easy to use, according to several experts. A dialogue box, which shows the day's tally, pops up on the register's screen. In a second dialogue box, the thief chooses to take a dollar amount or percentage of the till. The program then calculates which orders to erase to get close to the amount of cash the person wants to remove. Then it suggests how much cash to take, and it erases the entries from the books and a corresponding amount in orders, so the register balances. 6, record 9, English, - zapper

An airstair is a passenger staircase that is built in to an airliner - often, though not always, on the inside of a clamshell-style door. The stairs can be raised or lowered while the aircraft is on the ground, allowing passengers and ground personnel to board or depart the aircraft without the need for a mobile staircase or a jetway. ... The most unusual airstair design was found on the Lockheed L-1011, which was a full-height airstair which was stored in a cargo compartment and allowed access from the right aft passenger door to the ground. 3, record 14, English, - airstair%20compartment

Graphic Feedback. Very effective feedback can be given graphically. Extended verbal explanations may sometimes be eliminated in favor of a well-placed arrow or picture. Figure... shows a display..., in which the student must identify points on a number line by indicating the numbers where balloons are located. When the student gives a correct number, a dart flies across the screen and pops a balloon. If the student gives an incorrect number, a dart flies across the screen and sticks in a part of the number line where there is no balloon. It is immediately obvious to most students when they are correct, or, when incorrect... Food pollution threatens lives of Inuit in Arctic.... Substances known as persistent organic pollutants, or POPs, are now banned in North America but still used in developing countries. A popular TE option for food products packaged in glass containers under vacuum is the "button-top closure". These include lug versions used for jellies, sauces, and juices, and the threaded-seal version popular with the baby-food industry. A safety button, or coin-sized embossment on the top of the cap, pops-up as the jar is opened and its vacuum is lost. Accompanying this is the "pop" which serves as audible evidence of an undisrupted seal. When capped the embossed button is held down by vacuum pressure, providing the consumer with visual evidence that the container has not been opened. 1, record 30, English, - button%2Dtop%20closure
