Launched in 2016, ProjectBe is an initiative of the Government of Canada Workplace Charitable Campaign(GCWCC) Youth Council, run by and for young and emerging public servants. We connect public servants to a cause in their local community by raising awareness, encouraging volunteerism, and fundraising.

The year 2001 has been designated by the United Nations as the International Year of Volunteers. It provides an opportunity to recognize volunteers from all walks of life and celebrate the contributions they make in their communities. The Government will support sector-led initiatives such as promotional events. The Government is pleased to announce that it will also be working with the [voluntary] sector to develop a National Volunteerism Initiative to be launched during the International Year.
