The Aerial Survey Data Base(ASDB) is a data bank of photogrammetric control points that have been established through the process of aerotriangulation. The primary purpose of this data base is to provide a minimum of 4 points for the compilation of each photogrammetric model contained in a 1/50 000 National Topographic System(NTS) map sheet.

OBS

CONT

Aerial triangulation, or aerotriangulation, is the process of determining X, Y, and Z ground coordinates of individual points based on measurements from photographs. Aerial triangulation is used extensively for many purposes.

OBS

bridging :... densifying ground control through strips or a block of photos to be used in subsequent photogrammetric operations. When [aerotriangulation is] used for this purpose it is often called bridging, because it allows the computation of necessary control points between those measured in the field.

Several programs have been developed for the adjustment of aerotriangulation measurements. Programs which adjust the entire block of photographs simultaneously are more rigourous & provide greater accuracy than programs using approximate or sequential methods. Recent progress has been made in the development of an adjustment program which compensates for factors such as non-uniform film deformation, departures from flatness of camera platen, & changes in lens distortion. This method is known as the bundle adjustment method with self-calibration.
