2, record 2, French, - interventionnisme

Solidarity economy designates all production, distribution and consumption activities that contribute to the democratization of the economy based on citizen commitments both at a local and global level. Solidarity economy is a dynamics of reciprocity and solidarity which links individual interests to the collective interest. In this sense, solidarity economy is not a sector of the economy, but a transversal approach that includes initiatives in all sectors of the economy. It is about ethical consumption, women's initiatives, community and ecological agriculture, social money, ethical financing, fair trade, community services, appropriate and democratized technology and social forms of ownership and management of assets and of developmental activities. 1, record 12, English, - solidarity%20economy

Recently, there has been a surge of interest on the issue of dematerialization in the context of the so-called «New Economy», or «Internet based economy». There has been many claims that the Internet and associated emerging information technologies contribute to the dematerialization of the economy. However, this is far to be proven, mainly because of the well known «rebound effect». The huge number of electric and electronic devices needed to run the information economy require a growing amount of electricity, which, at least for countries like the US, implies to dig more coal. 5, record 13, English, - dematerialization%20of%20the%20economy

2, record 13, French, - d%C3%A9mat%C3%A9rialisation%20de%20l%27%C3%A9conomie

[Moshe Sadfie] is one of Canada's most famous architects... Expo ’67 gave him the chance to see his McGill University thesis built as Habitat ’67. It was a brilliant and socially sensitive design which aimed at providing a new model for high-density housing which combined privacy, economy and visual interest. Habitat ’67 was a prototype relying on modular construction. Each module was an elongated cube built on site and hoisted into position with a crane. Depending on the number of modules used, a given apartment could range from a 600 sq. ft.(55 sq. m.) bachelor unit to a family-sized suite. 1, record 20, English, - high%2Ddensity%20housing

The opportunity cost of using investment resources in a project rather than in their next best alternative use; usually expressed in the form of an interest rate. The reduction in non-project benefits in relation to project objectives that is a result of using capital in the project. In practice, usually a weighted average calculation of the cost of securing project capital from various sources. In financial analysis, the weighted average cost to the firm or farm of equity capital and of borrowed capital from likely sources. In economic analysis, usually the weighted average cost of capital to the economy as a whole, but sometimes the weighted average cost of capital to the public sector. The rate at which benefits and costs are discounted in calculating the net present worth, the net benefit-investment ratio, or the benefit-cost ratio. The cut-off rate for project analysis, and hence the minimum acceptable internal rate of return. 3, record 26, English, - opportunity%20cost%20of%20capital

1, record 26, Spanish, - costo%20de%20oportunidad%20del%20capital

Taxpayers pay more and more for less and less service from government because interest eats up a growing share of the tax dollar. And those higher taxes act as a brake on the economy. Less economic activity means less growth and fewer jobs. 1, record 27, English, - eat%20up

1, record 27, French, - gruger

(...) Any public debt that is externally held does involve a current burden on the citizens at home, since in the end they have to send goods abroad corresponding to the interest payments and debt service.(Of course, if the original borrowing from abroad resulted in equivalent fruitful capital goods here, their fruits will cover the external-debt service; so the net effect of such external borrowing, taken as a complete package, would be favorable to our economy.) 1, record 28, English, - external%2Ddebt%20burden
