Diploma of General University Studies. French compulsory studies diploma created in 1973 and taken by university students after the first 2 years’ study. There are 7 nationally prescribed DEUG courses, each multidisciplinary but having a particular bias. The DEUG can be used as a terminal qualification or an entry qualification for the specialized courses of the second cycle leading either to a licence or bachelor's degree in 1 year or a Master's degree in 2 years.

Although the basic texts are in English, The International Encyclopedia of Higher Education and the International Handbook of Universities and other Institutions of Higher Education left "diplôme d’études universitaires générales" in French.

Summit University is the educational branch of The Summit Lighthouse. Founded by Mark Prophet in 1971, it served as platform for the release of original teachings of the ascended masters for nearly three decades. It's current mission is to organize this abundance of teachings into well-defined courses of study for seekers worldwide. Summit University's teaching events take the form of online study courses, weekend seminars and longer retreats, usually providing one or more in-depth topical programs. Students not only immerse themselves in the subject matter but also find ample opportunity for experiential work through meditations, introspective and interactive exercises and prayer work.

For more than 40 years, The Summit Lighthouse has been publishing the teachings of ascended masters – the mystics and sages of East and West who graduated from earth's schoolroom and attained union with God. Mark L. Prophet founded The Summit Lighthouse in 1958 and was later joined by his wife Elizabeth Clare Prophet. These two Messengers delivered the teachings of the ascended masters in the tradition of the ancient prophets. The Summit Lighthouse is dedicated to bringing these teachings to the world so that every seeker can discover the limitless power of their Inner Self. There are many ways to connect with these teachings :study courses, spiritual communities, international conferences, the use of the Science of the Spoken Word and powerful visualizations for world transformation.
