The College of Chiropodists of Ontario (COCOO) is one of Ontario’s 23 self-regulated health profession Colleges in the province of Ontario established through the Regulated Health Professions Act, 1991 (RHPA). The College regulates both Chiropodists and Podiatrists.

The College of Chiropodists of Ontario has a duty to serve and protect the public interest. The College will ensure that the public receives competent care from chiropodists and podiatrists by : regulating the practice of the profession and governing the members in accordance with the Chiropody Act, 1991, the Regulated Health Professions Act and the regulations and by-laws; establishing standards of practice; establishing educational requirements for entry to practice and continuing competence; addressing any concerns from the public; [and] educating and providing information to the public about chiropody and podiatry.

A podiatrist is a doctor of podiatric medicine(DPM)... qualified by their education and training to diagnose and treat conditions affecting the foot, ankle and related structures of the leg. Within the field of podiatry, practitioners can focus on many different specialty areas, including surgery, sports medicine, biomechanics, geriatrics, pediatrics, orthopedics or primary care.
