... the utility aircraft serves as a "lifeline" to literally hundreds of small communities and villages throughout central and northern Canada and Alaska. That "dependence" on the small utility airplane to carry fishermen, hunters, judges, doctors, and Aunt Mabel to connection points and back home, is huge. 2, record 1, English, - utility%20airplane

(1) The radio rack venturi restrictor valve is installed in the forward end of the left utility tunnel. The valve is positioned upstream from the venturi, and functions to limit the amount of air discharged overboard. The valve is driven closed when the radio rack fan relay is energized, and is controlled by the same circuits as the fan. The valve is always closed when the airplane is on the ground.(2) The valve is a butterfly-type with clearance between the butterfly and the housing. In the closed position(butterfly positioned 90 degrees to airflow), the valve allows approximately 10 pounds of air per minute to flow through the discharge venturi. In the open position the airflow to the venturi is increased to approximately 20 pounds per minute. The valve actuator is operated by a 115-volt, 400-cycle electric motor. The actuator contains limit switches to stop the valve in the closed position, and to limit the rotation of the butterfly to 30 degrees when in the open position. 1, record 2, English, - radio%20rack%20venturi%20restrictor%20valve

The radio rack cooling fan is installed in the forward end of the left utility tunnel, in a section of ducting that bypasses the radio rack cooling overboard exhaust ducting.... The fan is used to create a flow of cooling air through the electrical and electronic equipment installations when the airplane is on the ground. The fan is also used to direct radio rack cooling exhaust air beneath the forward lower cargo compartment floor, to maintain temperature above freezing in the cargo compartment. The fan is an axial-flow type powered by a 115-volt, 400-cycle, 3-phase electric motor. 2, record 3, English, - radio%20rack%20fan

During normal operation, airflow is produced by a radio rack blower, located in the air conditioning compartment below the radio rack. The blower is a single stage axial flow fan, driven by a three phase 200 volt electrical motor, powered by No. 1 AC bus. 4, record 3, English, - radio%20rack%20fan
