Pour les roches magmatiques, les roches métamorphiques, et leurs minéraux, on utilise communément : [...] le diagramme A'KF avec ; A' = (Al2O3 + Fe2O2 - (Na2O+ K2O + CaO'), où CaO' représente le calcium lié aux silicates; K = K2O; F = MgO + MnO + FeO.

Dans le diagramme A'.F.K., le sommet A' représente la fraction alumineuse qui n'est liée ni à Na-K ni au calcium des silicates (CaO') alors que le sommet K est K2O et qu'en F restent les ferromagnésiens.
