Founded in 1987, The Adoption Council of Ontario (ACO) is an umbrella organization providing support to individuals and groups involved in adoption in Ontario. The mission of the Adoption Council of Ontario is to provide support to individuals, families, groups and organizations in Ontario. This support is directed toward advocating for, and enhancing the lives of, adoptees and all persons concerned with adoption. ACO is a registered charity whose primary aims are to provide information and education to the general public on all aspects of adoption; to facilitate cooperation and coordination between and among adoption groups and organizations; to advocate for, and foster the development of, needed community services related to adoption; and to advocate on behalf of children in need of permanent families.
