[Ce minéral] est monoclinique et sa structure cristalline est semblable à celle de l'orthose commun. Toutefois, l'examen de lames minces d'adulaire, au microscope en lumière polarisée entre nicols croisés, révèle un comportement optique beaucoup plus complexe que l'orthose normal.
