Le Réseau des aliments et des matériaux d'avant-garde (AFMNet), un des Réseaux de centres d'excellence du Canada, est une initiative nationale réunissant des chercheurs en biochimie, génie, santé, droit et société qui se penchent sur les aspects novateurs d'aliments et de matériaux, y compris la création de nouveaux nutraceutiques, sur les répercussions qu'a le Règlement sur les produits de santé naturels ainsi que sur la manière dont il est perçu. La collaboration et le réseautage sont essentiels pour l'AFMNet : plus de 100 chercheurs dans 21 universités cherchent à combler les lacunes dans la recherche actuelle et à appuyer la formation de personnel hautement qualifié susceptible de jouer un rôle déterminant dans l'industrie, en milieu universitaire et au gouvernement.
