The Agriculture and Food Council was formed in 1993 to champion the Creating Tomorrow vision and goals. Made up of representatives from all links in the agri-food industry value-chain the Council is a catalyst to help Alberta's agri-food sector: Increase Alberta's share of world food, agriculture and agribusiness markets; Improve sustainable resource and environmental management; and Expand the vision, competency and quality of life of people in the industry. The AFC has three core programs to support their goals: The Canada Agriculture Rural Adaptation Fund (CARD), The Value Chain Strategic Initiative, and Growing Alberta - a public awareness program. Funding is provided to AFC from Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada's $60 million per year Canadian Adaptation and Rural Development (CARD) Fund. This multi-million dollar program is now into its second phase with many vital investments that are showing positive dividends.

Il tire les fonds nécessaires à son fonctionnement du FCADR (Fonds canadien d'adaptation et de développement rural) d'Agriculture et Agroalimentaire Canada, qui est doté d'un budget de 60 millions de dollars par année. Ce programme au budget de plusieurs millions en est dans sa seconde phase et un bon nombre des investissements importants faits rapportent déjà des dividendes.

A heavy, chain-type flexible conveyor capable of being advanced with the face without dismantling.

It is designed to carry a coal-cutter or cutter-loader or to guide and hold a plough against the face. It may be advanced by horizontal hydraulic rams which are fixed at about 20 ft intervals on the waste side of the conveyor. It is often employed on prop-free-front faces with hand filling, and has a capacity of about 200-300 t.p.h.

The A.F.C. was developed in Germany by the Gewerkschaft Eisenhutte Westfalia during W.W.2. A few units were tried out in Britain shortly after the war and by the sixties they were being installed on all the major "longwall" faces in Britain. ... A heavy duty chain-type conveyor, the A.F.C. was nicknamed "Panzer" short for "Panzerforderer" by the miners.

Cette robustesse fait utiliser le convoyeur blindé dans les longues tailles, où il dessert le front sur toute sa longueur, recevant directement les blocs abattus par la machine (haveuse ou rabot). Pour suivre l'avancement du front de taille, on le pousse contre le front, sans avoir à le démonter.
