The ASPP supports the publication of scholarly books in the humanities and social sciences. The ASPP was established because scholarly books, although essential to the advancement of research in and about Canada, are not financially self-supporting, having limited specialist audiences and therefore short, unremunerative print-runs. Le Programme d'aide à l'édition savante (PAES) vise à faciliter la publication d'ouvrages en sciences humaines et sociales qui font une contribution importante à l'avancement des connaissances. Le Programme contribue ainsi à promouvoir la recherche des chercheurs canadiens en assurant à leurs travaux une plus grande dissémination.
