La leucémie aiguë promyélocytaire est une leucémie rare, grave, une urgence thérapeutique en raison du syndrome de coagulation intravasculaire disséminée (CIVD). Cette leucémie est associée à une anomalie cytogénétique, la translocation t(15 ; 17). L'acide tout-trans rétinoïque est capable, dans la majorité des cas, au moment du diagnostic ou lors de la première rechute, d'induire une rémission complète par différenciation de la cellule maligne.
