Le programme Artemis de la NASA [l'Administration nationale de l'aéronautique et de l'espace], nouveau chapitre de l'histoire de l'exploration de la Lune, a pour objectif d'envoyer des êtres humains plus loin que jamais dans l'espace. Ce programme dirigé par la NASA mise sur une collaboration internationale, notamment de l'Agence spatiale européenne (ESA), de l'Agence spatiale canadienne (ASC), de l'Agence japonaise d'exploration aérospatiale et de plusieurs partenaires commerciaux. Il met en place l'expertise nécessaire à un retour durable sur la Lune.
