Récemment est apparu sur le marché un guide-chaîne à profil asymétrique, conçu de façon à diminuer les rebonds qui pourraient se produire lors du contact de l'extrémité du guide avec une branche. On le nomme familièrement lame banane. Il s'agit en fait d'un guide-chaîne dont le nez comporte un pignon de sécurité remplaçable (guard tip).
