Dr. Tomatis laid the groundwork for a new multi-disciplinary science called audio-psycho-phonology (APP). It explains "why the way we listen" has a profound impact on almost all aspects of our being. In the early 50s, Dr. Tomatis also discovered that listening problems are the root cause of many learning problems.

L'audio-psycho-phonologie (APP) est issue, en 1957, des travaux de Alfred Tomatis, médecin oto-rhino-laryngologue, spécialiste des troubles de l'audition et du langage. Centrée sur les relations entre l'oreille et la voix d'une part et entre l'oreille et le psychisme d'autre part, l'audio-psycho-phonologie (APP) élargit le champ classique d'exploration de l'oreille. En prenant en compte l'une de ses fonctions les plus méconnues, celle de la recharge corticale, l'APP insiste sur le rôle capital qu'elle joue dans le fonctionnement de l'être humain en lui servant non seulement à entendre, mais aussi à lire, écrire, bouger, parler, penser, se concentrer, bref à vivre!
