Très récemment, une glycoprotéine membranaire de 78 kDa exprimée à la surface des mélanomes B16-F1 a été identifiée comme étant le récepteur liant le facteur autocrine de mobilité. Cette glycoprotéine est localisée essentiellement sur les lamellipodes des cellules en mouvement. Des anticorps monoclonaux dirigés contre la glycoprotéine 78 kDa sont capables de mimer la liaison du facteur avec son récepteur et sont ainsi aptes à stimuler la mobilité des cellules de mélanome.
