Early this year, the city (North Bay) started working with nearby Nipissing University and Canadore College's International Centre for Information Technology and Training (ICITT) to develop an integrated community network. The BayNet initiative build on North Bay's solid telecommunications backbone..., to create what Sajatovic terms, a "wired city. That's everybody being able to communicate with each other, whether it's voice or data or video." A public - and private - sector project, BayNet represents the efforts of about 15 people including the city corporation, Nippissing, Canadore, Northern Telecom, IBM Canada and Bell Canada.
