In February 1997, Chile and Canada signed a Free Trade Agreement, which includes two parallel agreements: one on labour and one on the environment. The agreement entered info force in July 1997. The Agreement on Environmental Cooperation demonstrates the importance given to environmental considerations in Canada and Chile. The main objectives of the Agreement on Environmental Cooperation are to strengthen both the environmental cooperation between the two countries, and the effective enforcement of domestic environmental laws and regulations. Other objectives include: the promotion of sustainable development; cooperation to better conserve, protect and enhance the environment; and the promotion of economically efficient and effective environmental measures. 1, record 1, English, - Canada%2DChile%20Agreement%20on%20Environmental%20Cooperation

En février 1997, le Canada et le Chili ont signé un Traité de libre-échange qui comprenait deux ententes parallèles; l'une dans le domaine du travail et l'autre dans celui de l'environnement. Ces ententes sont entrées en vigueur en juillet 1997. L'accord de coopération dans le domaine de l'environnement démontre aux questions environnementales. Les principaux objectifs de l'accord dans le domaine de l'environnement sont d'intensifier la coopération entre les deux pays ainsi que l'application efficace des lois et règlements environnementaux dans chacun des pays.
