The CAPPD was established in 1997 by parliamentarians including Senators. It is an all-party, non-partisan group dedicated to raising awareness about population, reproductive health, sustainable and development issues among decision-makers in the context of the implementation of the 1994 Cairo Programme of Action on Population and Development and the 1995 Beijing World Conference on Women.
