On Friday, December 12, 2003, the Government announced the creation of the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA), which is part of the Department of Public Safety and Emergency Preparedness. When the CBSA came into being, a number of employees from the Canada Customs and Revenue Agency (CCRA), Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) and the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) were transferred to the new agency.

Le gouvernement a créé vendredi le 12 décembre 2003 l'Agence des services frontaliers du Canada (ASFC), qui fait partie du ministère de la Sécurité publique et de la Protection civile. À la création de l'ASFC, un certain nombre d'employés de l'Agence des douanes et du revenu du Canada (ADRC), de Citoyenneté et Immigration Canada (CIC) et de l'Agence canadienne d'inspection des aliments (ACIA) ont été transférés à la nouvelle agence.
