The National Contingency Fund was established in 1969 by the IDA and Canadian stock exchanges. The fund covers Member firms of the IDA and of the Toronto, Montreal, Vancouver and Alberta stock exchanges. Its purpose is to provide financial assistance, in appropriate circumstances, to clients of a Member who suffer financial loss due to the failure of the Member.
