The Canadian Lung Association is one of Canada's first voluntary health organizations, its aim was to provide facilities for the care of TB (tuberculosis) patients. The first change of name was in 1909, the Canadian Association for the Prevention of Consumption and Other Forms of Tuberculosis for the Canadian Association for the Prevention of Tuberculosis; in 1922, the Canadian Tuberculosis Association; in 1968, the Canadian Tuberculosis and Respiratory Disease Association and the final adjustment was made in 1977 for the Canadian Lung Association.
