CARBON SPOT [3 records]

Record 1 2017-05-12

English

Subject field(s)
  • Gemmology
  • Diamond Industry
DEF

A dark inclusion in a diamond.

CONT

If a black piqué is left in the point of the culet, the whole stone will seem black.

OBS

With the naked eye, [included] crystals may look like white or black spots or tiny dots. Sometimes you may hear black marks referred to as carbon spots, but this can mislead people into believing that coal particles are in their diamonds. ... Dark inclusions in diamond were for generations called carbon spots, although it is now known that amorphous carbon does not occur as inclusions.

French

Domaine(s)
  • Gemmologie
  • Industrie diamantaire
DEF

Inclusion foncée dans un diamant.

CONT
