A chemical product in the form of white crystals or of a powder that is soluble in water, alcohol and benzene, slightly soluble in ether, almost insoluble in chloroform, almost odorless, has a saline taste, a melting point of 132.7°C, that decomposes before boiling, occurs naturally in urine, and is widely used in medicine, pharmacy, as a fertilizer and in the wine and food industry (yeast, some baked goods).
