La découverte de pépites dans les alluvions du Fraser et de ses tributaires venant des monts Cariboo se produisit une dizaine d'années après la célèbre "ruée" de la Californie. (...) Lorsque les ressources aurifères les plus facilement accessibles de la région Fraser-Cariboo furent épuisées, vers 1860, les établissements de l'intérieur déclinèrent.
