La Coopérative de buanderie du centre-ville a vu le jour pour offrir un service de blanchisserie abordable aux personnes à faible revenu, et ce, dans un milieu sûr et positif. En outre, elle leur permet d’acquérir une expérience de travail qui non seulement améliore leur qualité de vie, mais favorise aussi l’apport d’une contribution à la collectivité. La Coopérative constitue une solution à un problème soulevé lors des audiences populaires qui se sont tenues à Ottawa en 1997 sur les compressions budgétaires effectuées dans les programmes sociaux par le gouvernement provincial de Mike Harris.
