[Les Gastéropodes de la] super-famille des Cerithiacea [sont caractérisés] par une considérable homogénéité de l'ornementation qui est formée de cordons lamelleux et de filets longitudinaux recoupant des côtes transversales. D'autre part, il y a toujours au moins une échancrure ou un bec siphonal à la partie supérieure de l'ouverture. Nul doute que les Cerithiacea descendent d'une partie des Loxonematacea. Les stries d'accroissement sont toujours concaves vers l'ouverture.
