Le module de commande d'Apollo 10 avait été baptisé «Charlie Brown» et le LM «Snoopy» d'après les fameux héros de bande dessinée. Ceci avait été proposé par l'équipage. La NASA avait alors contacté Charles Schultz afin de demander l'autorisation d'utiliser les noms de ses personnages. Le père de Snoopy qui trouvait l'idée originale accepta immédiatement.
